Marotta joined the Stanford coaching staff in 2004 after playing four seasons of collegiate field hockey at William and Mary, where she received a bachelor's degree in government in December of 2003.
In addition to her work at Stanford, Marotta has been a certified National Futures coach since March of 2004, coaching U-16 and U-19 teams for the Regional Futures Tournament, as well as the California representative teams at the National Futures Championship held in Virginia Beach for the last six years. Last summer, Marotta coached the California U-19 squad to a fourth place finish in the tournament.
Marotta capped a four-year collegiate playing career (2000-03) at William and Mary with a decorated senior season, earning a spot on the 2003 NFHCA Division I North/South Senior All-Star Team, as well as earning All-State, First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association, Second Team All-South Region and CAA All-Tournament honors. Marotta was a three-time CAA Player of the Week recipient that season while also finishing as the leading points scorer in the conference.
During her career at William and Mary, Marotta led the Tribe in scoring with 31 points on 13 goals and five assists in her senior campaign and finished her career with 56 points on 20 goals and 16 assists. The Tribe also reached the NCAA Tournament twice during her career. These accomplishments, in addition to her contributions to the team and the college community off the turf, resulted in her being awarded the prestigious President's Award recognizing leadership, sportsmanship, and citizenship among all athletes at William and Mary.
Marotta and her husband, Peter, have a son, Cooper, who was born this past July. The family enjoys being a part of the Stanford community.
