Kacee Cox enters her first season with the Cardinal in 2017 as the team's volunteer assistant coach.
Cox joins the Cardinal from Chico State after spending two seasons with the Wildcats. Cox played a key role in the Wildcats’ successful 2015 season and the program’s first NCAA Championship Tournament appearance in three years.
“I’m excited to add Kacee to our staff,” said Hanson. “She has a high level competitive background, as well as a great track record of developing players on and off the field. She’ll work primarily with our catchers and outfielders.”
Before her time with Chico State, Cox served as an assistant at Queens (N.Y.) College for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, coaching a pair of All-Americans and helping the Knights reach the NCAA Championship Tournament East Regional in 2014.
Cox enjoyed a successful playing career as a four-year starter at St. John’s. She held a .339 career batting average for the Red Storm and is the program’s all-time leader in RBIs (154).
Cox earned three All-Big East honors and was a two-time Second Team All-Great Lakes Region selection. She led the Big East in hitting in 2010 (.404), and became the first player in St. John’s softball history to be named Big East Player of the Year during her senior season in 2012.
Cox excelled in the classroom, earning four Big East All-Academic Team selections and was a national finalist for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award.
Cox played one season of professional softball in 2013 as a member of the National Pro Fastpitch’s NY/NJ Comets.
Cox earned four varsity softball letters at Royal High School in Simi Valley, California. The two-time Marmonte League Offensive Player of the Year led the Highlanders to two league championships.
Cox earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management at St. John’s in 2012 and completed a master’s degree in sport management in 2013.
