About Student Athletes in Finance
Our Programs
SAIF offers two distinct programs to accommodate members' varying time commitments, educational needs, and graduation years.
General Track
The General Track is designed for any student-athlete curious about finance, regardless of experience level or commitment to recruiting. This inclusive program provides a welcoming space to learn about the industry at your own pace. Members gain full access to all our resources—including technical guides, weekly seminars, our internship tracker, and networking events—everything except the formal mentorship program. It is a perfect starting point for exploring finance within a supportive community of fellow student-athletes.
Recruitment Track
The Recruitment Track is designed for student-athletes committed to recruiting for internships or full-time roles. Members gain access to enhanced resources, including one-on-one mentorship with a SAIF alumni and mock interviews with experienced professionals. To maximize success, members are expected to actively participate by completing technical assignments, attending all club events, and engaging fully in the recruiting process. This track provides the intensive support needed to compete for top positions in finance.
The SAIF Experience
Fall
Fall is when prospective members apply to join SAIF. Once accepted, members receive a comprehensive introduction to finance, heavily focused on investment banking, covering deal structures, firm roles, and market trends. The fall curriculum focuses on essential technical skills—accounting, valuation methodologies (DCF, LBO, Comps), and M&A analysis—while members simultaneously prepare for behavioral interviews and develop networking strategies. SAIF facilitates direct industry connections through networking events with top firms and exclusive office visits.
Winter
As internship applications open across the industry, SAIF intensifies its recruiting support. Members participate in mock interviews covering both behavioral and technical components, receiving personalized feedback to refine their performance. The curriculum shifts to hands-on application through in-depth case studies that reinforce the core concepts learned in fall. SAIF continues hosting networking sessions early in the quarter and actively shares open opportunities to ensure members stay informed and competitive throughout the recruiting cycle.
Spring
SAIF pivots to supporting members interested in consulting recruitment and preparing freshmen for their first recruiting cycle. Freshmen begin their technical training in accounting and valuation fundamentals. Sophomores and juniors heading into summer internships engage in advanced financial modeling sessions and receive strategic guidance on maximizing their internship performance to secure return offers. The spring quarter emphasizes translating technical knowledge into practical application, ensuring all members are positioned for success in their next career step.
