Tempe, Ariz. - Junior Eric Dahlberg led the Cardinal to a sixth place finish at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships, held in Tempe, Arizona April 24-26 on the par-72 Karsten Golf Course. Dahlberg finished in a tie for 17th place after carding rounds of 70, 74, 70 and 72 for a two-under par total of 286. The team finished in sixth place with a three day, four-round total of 1448.
Host and five-time defending champion Arizona State ran off with the tournament title for the sixth year in a row, recording a team total of 1384, 56 strokes under par. Oregon State finished second with a four-round total of 1421. Individually, Sun Devil Paul Casey took his third consecutive Pac-10 title, finishing 23 under par with a total of 265, breaking the Pac-10 Championship recrod of most strokes under par in four rounds, previously held by Stanford's Tiger Woods at 18 under in 1996.
Cardinal senior Dusty Brett finished in a tie for 22nd place with rounds of 74, 68, 73 and 73 for a total of 288. Freshman Jim Seki finished tied for 25th place with rounds of 75, 76, 73 and 65 for a total of 289. Junior Alex Aragon finished with a total of 291, good for a tie for 30th place with rounds of 72, 79, 71 and 69. Junior Jimmy Lee finished 47th with rounds of 71, 71, 78, 79 for a total of 299, and freshman Ron Won placed 56th with rounds of 81, 80, 73 and 79 for a total of 313.
The Stanford men's golf team will be back on the links next weekend when the Cardinal hosts the US Intercollegiate May 6-7 at the Stanford golf course.
