Irvin, the nation's top-ranked player, pushed her record to 25-2 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over tenth-ranked Esther Knox of Georgia. The third-ranked Granville defeated 55th-ranked Georgia's Esther Knox 6-4, 6-3 and is now 42-3 in singles.
Senior Teryn Ashley concluded her season with a three-set loss to 20th-ranked Jahnavi Parekh of Baylor, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Ashley finished the 2000 season with a 23-11 record.
In the third round, Irvin will face 19th-ranked Chin Bee Khoo of Arkansas, while Granville will take on defending NCAA singles champion Zuzana Lesenarova of San Diego. The third round will be played tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m.
In doubles, Irvin teamed with Ashley to defeat Georgia's Knox and Aarthi Venkatesan 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Granville and sophomore partner Keiko Tokuda advanced to the next round with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kristi Dascoli and Monica Rincon of Ohio State.
