Stanford Head Coach Mark Marquess(opening statement): "I thought it was a great game for us. We got somekey hits. I don't think we had more than a single, but we had some clutchbase hits and we played solid defense. I was pleased with the way wehandled the rain delay. I was especially concerned about (starting pitcher)Justin (Wayne), but he did fine. It was a huge win for us to get a coupleof days off."
(on the lack of use of the bullpen in today's game): "We wanted to go to(Jeff) Bruksch at the end of the game to get him some work. I'm not goingto approach it (the College World Series) any different than I did all year.I think one thing that has helped us this year is our bullpen. I don't useit as much as some other teams. I think last year we were a little short inthat area, but this year we caught up. It's nice to have it if you need it."
Stanford starting pitcher Justin Wayne(on his performance): "I have got to give a lot of credit to the defensebehind me with the catches they made. That'll carry you as long as you needto go. It was a tight game early on and late in the game. Those are thespots you have to win. If you win those particular spots, you'll win thegame. With the guys behind me, it's easy to win those spots. I put them(the base runners) on there. The least I can do is help get them out."
(on the rain delay): "It wasn't that big of a deal. The way we came out(after the rain delay) was huge."
Stanford third baseman John Gall(comparing this year to last year): "It's rare you get a second chance towin two games in a row at the College World Series. We will approachWednesday's game the same as we did last year. We're going to go out thereand try to win to advance to the championship game."
Stanford right fielder Joe Borchard(on the rain delay): "If nothing else, I think it sent a message to themthat we were ready to play. We knew Justin was going to come out strong forus. We got as many runs as soon as we could."
Clemson Head Coach Jack Leggett(on the game): "I thought it was a rough game for us to lose. We didn't getinto the flow of the game early and it got us in trouble. And they tookadvantage by hitting with men on base and we didn't hit with men on base. Ithought their pitcher pitched well. He had a very good slider and worked usin and out. I thought we hit the ball well but didn't get out of those hitswhat we want."
(on Lynn's outing): "He's been our hottest pitcher for the last five weeksand I thought he pitched well and we started off the game good. But (in thethird) we had a ball get by the catcher that moved two runners into scoringposition and they came up with the big hit. Then we missed the cutoff andthe man got to second and scored from there on another hit. We just weren'tfundamentally sound. I don't think Kevin pitched poorly."
(on coming back in the losers' bracket): "You can't expect anyone to handit to you. I think it was Southern California who lost the first game andcame back to win it all. We've got to win four games now in a week, and itcan be done."
Clemson third baseman Khalil Greene(on Stanford's Wayne): "He was real tough on right-hand batters, real toughon me personally. When he had men in scoring position he would just baredown. It's disappointing, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it."
Clemson starter Kevin Lynn(on his outing): "I don't feel I had my best stuff. I couldn't get in agroove today. I made some good pitches but made some poor pitches too. Iwasn't satisfied but I'll be ready for the next one."
