OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Justin Wayne gave Stanford another solid outing and another postseason win as the Cardinal beat Clemson 10-4 Sunday, sending the Tigers into the losers' bracket at the College World Series.

Wayne (15-3), the fifth overall pick in last week's amateur draft by the Montreal Expos, scattered eight hits over 7 2-3 innings. He retired seven of the final 10 batters he faced before giving way to Jeff Bruksch.

Bruksch pitched 1 1-3 innings, giving up two runs in the ninth.

Wayne earned his fifth straight win and third this postseason. His teammates gave him plenty of run support before and after a one-hour rain delay at Rosenblatt Stadium.

Joe Borchard went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scored three times. Craig Thompson and John Gall added two hits apiece and Stanford had 12 hits, all singles.

With the victory, Stanford gets to rest until Wednesday. The Cardinal (49-15) will face whichever team comes out of the losers' side of the bracket. Clemson (51-17) plays the winner of Sunday night's elimination game between San Jose State and Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday.

Borchard got Stanford on the board with a two-run single in the third. Borchard scored two batters later on Chris O'Riordan's single up the middle.

After the rain delay, the Cardinal extended their lead to 4-0 lead with a run in the fourth. Kevin Lynn (5-2), making just his third start of the season, gave up two infield singles and a walk to load the bases before giving way to Mike Prato.

Lynn entered the game with a 3-0 record and 2.05 ERA over his last 22 innings. He had 18 strikeouts and just one walk in that span, but struggled with his control against Stanford.

He allowed six hits and four runs. He also walked two, struck out two, hit two batters and threw three wild pitches.

The Tigers' bullpen didn't fare much better.

Clemson used six more pitchers, combining to give up six hits and six runs.

Arik VanZandt gave Stanford a 6-0 lead with an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth. O'Riordan scored on the play, as did Damien Alvarado, who came home on shortstop Jeff Baker's wild throw to first.

O'Riordan made it 7-0 with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

The Cardinal stranded nine runners on base - six in scoring position - through six innings.

Clemson scored two runs in the sixth off Wayne, but Stanford put the game out of reach with a three-run eighth.

Casey Stone and Henri Stanley each had three of the Tigers' 12 hits.
