Stanford, Calif. - Randy Fasani threw four scoring passes, includingtosses of 69 and 46 yards to Ryan Wells, leading Stanford to a 38-22 victoryover Boston College on Saturday night.
Fasani also had touchdown passes of 19 yards to Nick Sebes and 14 yards toTeyo Johnson. Kerry Carter added a 5-yard scoring run and Mike Biselli kicked a41-yard field goal for Stanford, which was playing its first game of theseason.
Brian St. Pierre threw TD passes of 23 and 15 yards to Ryan Read and added a20-yard scoring pass to Jamal Burke, and Kevin McMyler kicked a 45-yard fieldgoal for the Eagles (1-1).
But Boston College tailback William Green, who ran for 204 yards and threetouchdowns last week against West Virginia, was held to 103 yards on 25carries.
Fasani, who was only 5-for-14 in the first half, finished 15-of-29 for 232yards. St. Pierre was 15-of-38 for 189 yards.
Trailing 21-7 at halftime, the Eagles pulled within five points on McMyler'sfield goal and Read's 23-yard scoring reception. The catch by Read completed a90-yard drive, but the extra-point attempt was blocked.
Stanford responded just 1:27 later with the 69-yard scoring pass to Wells,who broke a tackle as he raced down the sideline to increase the Cardinal'slead to 28-16 at the end of the third quarter.
Fasani's looping pass to Johnson midway through the final period completed a14-play, 98-yard drive and gave Stanford a 35-16 lead. Biselli added his fieldgoal with 5:12 remaining, and Burke scored for Boston College in the finalminutes.
The Cardinal took control in the first half by limiting Green to 39 yards on14 carries and converting two turnovers into touchdowns.
The Eagles opened the scoring on St. Pierre's 15-yard pass to Read halfwaythrough the first quarter, completing a 74-yard drive that included a 28-yardend around by Dedrick Dewalt.
But Stanford responded with three quick touchdown drives, following a longpunt return and two interceptions.
Fasani avoided two tacklers while scrambling to throw his scoring pass toSebes, after a three-play drive sparked by Luke Powell's 49-yard punt return.
A wide-open Wells caught his 46-yard scoring pass to finish off a six-playdrive, and Carter scored two minutes later to make it 21-7 after Brian Taylorreturned an interception to the Boston College 9.
