Stanford, Ca - Cardinal freshman Tony Azevedo scored four goals to lead top-ranked Stanford to a 13-5 victory over tenth-ranked Loyola Marymount in a non-league water polo game on Friday at the Avery Aquatic Center.
Azevedo, who has scored no fewer than two goals in all six games this year, scored three of the team's four goals in the third period. Azevedo, a member of the 2000 United States Olympic team, leads the team in scoring with 21 goals. Brian Darrow and Onno Koelman each added two goals as Stanford upped its season record to 6-0.
Loyola Marymount fell to 7-7.
The Cardinal will face Santa Clara on Saturday (9:15 a.m.) in the opening round of the two-day Nor Cal Tournament at Stanford. Thirteen of the 15 teams in the tournament are nationally-ranked.
