STANFORD HEAD COACH BRET SIMON
I'm very proud of our guys, every one of them. This game meant everything to them. They played their best. I thought we played a very good game. North Carolina, when we had them on the ropes showed wonderful resiliency and heart and scored two fantastic goals at the end of the game. It wasn't lucky, they got those two goals with great skills and they were wonderful plays. My hat's off to them. Once the game was tied up 2-2 it became anyone's moment to win the game. They deserved it, they worked very hard and they hung in there against the odds.
SENIOR MIDFIELDER MATT MOSES
To be honest I'd be lying if I didn't say we were disappointed that we didn't win today. I think everyone on our team thought we would be in the final. After going 2-nil up, in my opinion I thought it was ours to lose. The fact that we didn't keep the lead at 2-nil is disappointing and you have to give credit to North Carolina for coming back but I think we should have won the game today.
JUNIOR DEFENDER TODD DUNIVANT
On the game-winning goal:
I think what happened was that they played a ball right down the gut, something we had seen all game, something we had seen all year, so it was nothing new. The ball just managed to get over (Lee Morrison's) head and we probably could have done a better job of covering. I went in to fight for the ball, the keeper came out, it was just unlucky and (Mike Gell) got a good touch on it and was able to put it away.
