Indianapolis, Ind. - Several current and former Stanford swimmers competed on the opening day of the long-course meters 2004 Counsilman Classic on Friday. Jenny Thompson's winning effort in the 100 fly (58.91) highlighted the performances, while Tara Kirk was second in the 100 breast (1:08.89).

Others competing were Misty Hyman (100 fly, 3rd, 1:00.32), Dana Kirk (100 fly, 4th, 1:00.65; 200 free, 41st, 2:07.75), Shelly Ripple-Johnson (100 fly, 6th, 1:01.05; 200 free, 8th, 2:03.48), Lacey Boutwell (100 fly, 9th, 1:01.65; 200 free, 27th, 2:06.24), Lauren Costella (400 IM, 21st, 5:08.18; 200 free, 108th, 2:14.51), Morgan Hentzen (200 free, 38th, 2:07.61) and Desiree Stahley (200 free, 54th, 2:09.88).

Thompson also anchored the sixth-place BAD team in the 400 free relay (4:01.46), while Tara Kirk was 25th in the 100 fly (1:04.49).
