Stanford Quotes
Head Coach Buddy Teevens: Opening Statement:
This was the ugliest game I think I've ever seen, and unfortunately I coached in it.

On the game: Our guys were very disappointed in our performance. We didn't make plays that were there to be made and we turned the ball over a bunch. I told the guys to take some satisfaction in the fact that we played poorly and still came out on top.

On turnovers: I think we forced the ball, and we haven't been doing that so far. We were a little short on the deep ball early on. The tough thing is turning the ball over in the red zone and not getting those points, but the lesson is learned and we have to regroup against a strong Notre Dame team.

On the punt block: Dave Tipton has been working with our punt coverage team and did a nice job scheming them up. He and Tom Quinn do a great job on special teams. It came at a timely juncture in the game.

Quarterback Trent Edwards:
On the game:
We can use each game individually to our benefit. We've been in a bunch of different situations, and I think we've felt all the emotions that we can as a football team. This is a great 3-1 start for us, and we can use that.

On offensive execution: There were two or three drives that I was really pleased with. I was impressed with a few of the things we did, but on the whole, we didn't get the job done. I was lethargic all week and didn't come out with a lot of intensity. My teammates expect more out of me, and hopefully I can get better next week.

Running back J.R. Lemon
On his 58-yard touchdown run:
There was a change of play at the line and I saw a seam on that side, so I took it there and I had one man to beat with one cut. And then I took it to the house. The second you see that green, you've got to march forward. I love seeing that green, it's the best thing to see!

Washington Quotes

Head Coach Keith Gilbertson: (on Stanford) Their guys competed high. They were out there for four quarters. Their guys are big and strong, even their freshmen. Their size and speed. They have a very fast secondary. I think this is the best Stanford team I've ever coached against.

We had a lot of missed opportunities. There were a lot of dropped passes. I thought Carl (Bonnell) did a nice job. Carl did the things I thought he would do. He made some plays and some scrambles. I was pleased with how he played.

We just aren't as big and strong as that Stanford team. We're inexperienced and it's really hard for us offensively. We moved the ball but we had some drops. Our defense did well and made some plays.

Anthony Russo: (on the teams record) We're not panicked right now. I think we are improving every game. We're just going to continue our progress and we're going to move along.

Greyson Gunheim: I was just trying to get to the quarterback. I'm just trying to use my speed.

Carl Bonnell: I thought I played a pretty good game. I wanted to keep going. The line blocked well for me. We had a couple shots. They had a good defense. I'm disappointed but I think our offense will turn it back around.
