Stanford Women's Gymnastics Falls To No. 20 Central Michigan

Mount Pleasant, Mich. - The Stanford women's gymnastics team fell to Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant on Friday evening, 195.925-194.675. Freshman Liz Tricase captured first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.925, while freshman Lauren Elmore posted a career-best 38.850 score in the all-around.

The No. 20 ranked Chippewas won the vault, uneven bars, and balance beam events, while the two squads tied in the floor exercise with scores of 48.950. Tricase placed first on bars for the third straight meet, scoring a meet-high 9.925. Tricase also registered a 9.850 in the floor exercise and a 9.775 on the vault.

Freshman Lauren Elmore recorded a career-high 38.850 to finish third in the all-around, while registering season-highs in all four events. Elmore received a 9.825 on floor exercise, a 9.775 on balance beam, a 9.725 on bars, and a 9.525 on vault. Also competing in the all-around for the Cardinal was freshman Alex Pintchouk, who scored season-highs with a 9.625 on vault and a 9.800 in the floor exercise. Junior Glyn Sweets received a season-high score with a 9.775 on beam.

Junior All-American Natalie Foley returned to the competition floor after sitting out of last week's win over Oregon State, competing on the uneven bars and receiving a score of 9.800. Freshman Tabitha Yim competed for the first time this season, scoring a 9.825 on the balance beam and a 9.850 on the uneven bars to finish second in both events.

As a team, Stanford recorded season-highs in three events. The Cardinal registered a 48.700 on bars, a 48.825 on beam, and a 48.950 in the floor exercise. The team score of 194.675 also marked a season-high for Kristen Smyth's squad.

Central Michigan was led by seniors Kara Reighard and Sara Burtinsky. Reighard finished first in the all-around with a score of 39.350, while capturing first place on beam (9.875) and in the floor exercise (9.875). Burtinsky finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.225, while freshman Rhiannon Banda-Scott captured first on vault with a 9.875.

The Cardinal returns to Pac-10 competition next week, traveling to face Arizona in a dual meet in Tucson next Friday.
