Auburn, Ala. - Freshman Tabitha Yim competed in three event finals at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships in Auburn on Saturday, tying for third place in the floor exercise. Yim, Stanford's lone representative at the NCAA Championships, competed on the uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise during Saturday's NCAA Event Finals competition.
Yim started the evening by scoring a 9.837 on the balance beam to finish seventh. UCLA's Kristen Maloney, who claimed a national championship on vault earlier in the competition, took first place on beam with a score of 9.9375.
The freshman continued on the uneven bars, where she scored a 9.875 to place sixth. Her score was just shy of the 9.887 mark posted by three different gymnasts that tied for third place. Alabama's Terin Humphrey took first place on bars with a 9.937 score.
Yim wrapped up the competition with her best performance of the evening on the floor exercise, scoring a 9.925 to tie for third place with Nebraska's Emily Parsons. North Carolina's Courtney Bumpers claimed the national title on floor by scoring a perfect-10.0.
Yim received First Team All-American honors in the all-around as well as on bars, beam, and floor by virtue of finishing among the top-four in each category during Session I of the team competition on Thursday.
