Stanford, Calif. - Stanford team captain Katie Norris captured the solo title at the Aflac National Synchronized Swimming Championships last weekend in Federal Way, Wash., as the Cardinal took second place in the team championship.
Norris, a 2004 Olympic Training Squad member, won gold in solo and took home the Esther Williams Creative Achievement Award for her artistic impression. The Cardinal's two Olympians, Sara Lowe and Courtenay Stewart, claimed second place in duets, with Lowe also picking up a third-place finish in solo. Norris also placed in duets, as she and Samantha Bongiovanni-Duclos captured bronze.
Stanford finished in second place in the team competition, just half of a point behind Santa Clara.
