Fifth-year senior Kevin Hansen added to his postseason accolades as he was named first-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The 6-foot-5 setter finished his career third in Stanford history with 5,036 assists. In 2005 Hansen posted a 12.70 assists per game average, leading the Cardinal through a highly competitive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) schedule.

This is the second time Hansen has been named to a postseason All-American team. Following the 2004 campaign Hansen was named third-team All-American after posting 1169 assists. In Hansen's career he has recorded two of the top 10 single-season assists totals with 1,318 in 2003 and 1,317 in 2002. Hansen also stands ninth in Stanford men's volleyball history with a career average of 12.85 assists per game.

Before receiving this award, Hansen was named first-team all MPSF marking the fourth time he has been recognized at the conference level.
