Berkeley, Calif. - The Stanford men's soccer team wrapped up the 2005 regular season with a 4-1 loss to California in Berkeley this afternoon at Edwards Stadium in front of a crowd of 765. Cal stands at 13-3-2 overall and 6-3-1 in the Pac-10, while Stanford drops to 4-11-3, 1-7-2 in conference play.

Eric Ebert put the Bears on the board in the second minute of play. Andrew Jacobson took a corner kick from the right side of the field to set the ball in action, Ebert was positioned in front of the goal and headed the ball into the net.

Less than 20 minutes later Jacobson scored and put the Bears ahead, 2-0. Calen Carr passed the ball to Jacobson, who landed the wide-open shot from 20 yards out.

With five minutes remaining in the first half, freshman midfielder Pat Marion checked into the game. Junior defender Justin Delacruz crossed the ball to Marion, who headed the ball into the net at 40:05 from five yards out, and gave Cal a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the 59th minute Carr recorded his 11th goal of the season, when he scored Cal's fourth goal of the afternoon.

Sassano crossed the ball to Carr who found the open net from the left side of the field. Sassano tallied his seventh assist for the season.

In the 80th minute Stanford's Tunji Munabi scored for the Cardinal when he found the open net from five yards back. Munabi took three of Stanford's six shots.

Cal outshot Stanford, 13-6 with 10 of those shots being on goal. Stanford keeper Andrew Kartunen recorded six saves for the Cardinal.
