Stanford, Ca - The tenth-ranked Stanford women's gymnastics team, fueled by several impressive career-best efforts including a perfect 10.000 by Liz Tricase on Bars, stormed to a convincing 196.875 - 194.625 victory over 14th-ranked Arizona in a Pac-10 dual meet before a near capacity crowd at Burnham Pavilion on Friday night.
Tricase, a sophomore from Itasca, Il, thrilled the crowd of nearly 1,200 with a perfect 10.000 not only on her first effort but their second effort as well. Tricase tied the school record originally set by Amy Murakami back in 1999. Her point total gave the Cardinal a team total of 49.425, their best effort of the 2006 season. In fact, in every event (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor Exercise), the Cardinal put together a season-best. That included a 49.150 on Vault, 49.425 on Bars, 49.050 on Beam, and a 49.250 in Floor Exercise.
Individually, eight career-best marks were set as the Cardinal upped its season record to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-10. The marks included a 39.625 in the All-Around, a 9.950 on Bars, and 9.950 on Beam by Tabitha Yim, a 9.825 on Bars, and a 9.925 on Floor Exercise by Nicole Ourada, a 9.875 on Floor Exercise by Alex Pintchouk, and a perfect 10.000 on Bars and a 9.900 on Floor Exercise by Liz Tricase.
Stanford's final home meet is on February 24 against the Washington Huskies at Burnham Pavilion.
