Stanford Men Fall 2-0 To San Francisco

San Francisco, Calif. - The Stanford men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 17 San Francisco Sunday night at Negoesco Stadium. The Cardinal fall to 0-2 on the season while the Dons improve to 2-0.

USF's Ardalan Attar scored in the first half and junior Adam Bergman scored in the second half

The Dons took the lead on a combination started by senior Matt Languis. Languis looped a free kick into the penalty box where Bergman headed the ball to Attar who scored from close range at 32:28.

The Dons scored the insurance goal at 79:51 when Aaron Chandler passed the ball to a streaking Bergman who beat Stanford goalkeeper John Moore in a one-on-one situation.

Galen Thompson led the Cardinal with three shots on the night including one on goal in the 31st minute of the first half.

For the contest, Stanford took four shots and recorded five corner kicks on the evening. Freshman goalie John Moore, playing in his first collegiate contest, collected two saves as well.

Stanford is back in action next week as they travel to Princeton for a 7 p.m. EST match up on Friday, September 1. The Cardinal follow it up with a Sunday contest versus Army in West Point, N.Y. at 6 p.m. EST.
