Stanford, Calif. - Goals by Scott Bolkan and Evan Morgan in the second half of play lifted the Stanford men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Oregon State this afternoon at Maloney Field. The Cardinal improve to 6-5-3 overall, 4-1-1 Pac-10 while the Beavers fall to 5-9-1, 0-7-0 in league play.

Stanford swept the season series with OSU, winning both home and away.

Neither team scored during the first half of play but the Cardinal recorded the first shot on goal when Beaver keeper Packy Deenihan saved a shot by Cardinal Galen Thompson in the 11th minute of play.Sophomore T.J. Novak also got a good look between the posts in the 37th minute but once again Deenihan came up with the save.

In the second half, OSU came out aggressive and Cardinal keeper John Moore notched a save in the 45th minute of play on an attempt by OSU's Robbie Findley.

In the 59th minute, Stanford's Scott Bolkan headed a pass from Galen Thompson for his first goal of the season.

Moore remained vigilant in goal for the Cardinal, stopping a shot by Beaver Jordan Harris in the 70th minute.

Stanford picked up an insurance goal in the 74th minute when Dan Shapiro found Evan Morgan whose long shot from the left side found the back of the Oregon State net. Morgan collected his fourth goal of the season on the play.

The Cardinal remained in control for the rest of the game to pick up the 2-0 win in conference play.

Freshman goalkeeper John Moore was perfect between the posts recording three saves on the afternoon. Stanford outshot the Beavers 6-5 for the game.

The Cardinal is back in action next Friday against California at 3:30 p.m. in Berkeley. The game is a make-up of an earlier game that was postponed.
