Alumni Flag Football Game Set for Saturday, April 21

April 5, 2007

Some of the great Cardinal football players of all-time will get back on the playing field on Saturday, April 21 as they take on head coach Jim Harbaugh and the current Cardinal coaching staff in the first Alumni Flag Football Game. The game will begin at 10:15 am in Stanford Stadium. Following the game, the Cardinal will participate in a full practice and scrimmage. Admission is free.

Harbaugh, who played quarterback in the NFL for 15 years, will direct his team that will include his current coaching staff along with local celebrities, venture capitalists and NFL alumni.

The Cardinal Legends team will feature five the greatest players in Stanford football history. Troy Walters, the 1999 Biletnikoff Award winner as the nation's top receiver and current member of the Arizona Cardinals, will join Stanford's all-time leading passer, Steve Stenstrom, Rose Bowl quarterback Todd Husak and Sun Bowl MVP and former major league pitcher and NFL QB Chad Hutchinson in a power-packed offensive unit. Up front, two-time All-American Bob Whitfield will provide protection for Stenstrom and Husak. Whitfield recently retired from the NFL after playing for 15 years, including last season with the New York Giants.

Other Stanford Legends will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

The Cardinal began Spring Practice on April 4 in the first of their 15 practices, culminating in the Cardinal-White Spring Game on Saturday, April 28 at Stanford Stadium.
