The Stanford men's soccer team (4-2-5, 1-0-2) battled UCLA to a scoreless tie on a rainy Friday evening at UCLA's Frank W. Marshall Field , extending the unbeaten streak to six matches. Freshman Bobby Warshaw attempted six of Stanford's ten shots, while sophomore goalkeeper John Moore and the Cardinal defense helped recorded its fifth shutout in a row and sixth overall.

The two teams each had 10 shots in the game, Stanford keeper Moore making three saves and UCLA goalkeeper Brian Perk making twoMoore made a game saving block in the 40th minute on a shot from the left side that forcing him to make a kick save.

Midfielder Warshaw had all four of the Cardinal's first-half shots, including a dazzling bicycle kick that went high in the 33rd minute and a header that went just wide in the 37th minute.

Stanford had some good chances in the second half, but UCLA goalkeeper Perk was able to make a save on a Michael Alexander shot in the 61st minute, and Daniel Leon missed wide right in the 74th minute. In the 80th minute, Stanford had an opportunity with Perk out of his box, but Bruin defender Greg Folk cleared the ball out of danger before any Cardinal player could take a shot.

In the first overtime period, Stanford took the first scoring opportunities but missed wide left on shots by Warshaw and Kyle Hency. Rainfall in the middle of the first overtime hindered the two teams' offensive capabilities, and only two shots, one by each team that were saved, were recorded after that. For the second straight match, Stanford played to a 0-0 tie.
