Box Score

Stanford broke out Friday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium and scored four goals in the first 24 minutes of action to defeat the University of Washington 4-0. Kelley O'Hara scored two more goals in the victory and Kristin Stannard and Allison Falk added the other two to put the game out of reach. Erica Holland started in goal again and completed her second consecutive shutout. The win moved the Cardinal record to 12-2-3 and 3-1-2 in Pac-10 play.

Stanford fired early and often on Washington goalkeeper Taylor Carr in the first half, by taking three shots in the first three minutes. None of them found the net, but after Marisa Abegg fired a shot off a Husky defender, Kelley O'Hara followed the deflection for the Cardinal's first goal of the game at the 4:16 mark. The goal was her seventh on the season after scoring two last weekend in Arizona. Only two minutes later, the Cardinal was attacking again when Abegg led O'Hara on the left side of the field. O'Hara gathered the ball and looked to cross the ball into the middle area of the field. The ball carried and eventually found the very top right portion of the net. It was a perfectly placed ball that Carr didn't really have a chance for, which gave Stanford a 2-0 lead after only six minutes of action

The relentless attack continued when the Cardinal took a couple more shots on net keeping the Washington defense busy. The third Cardinal goal came when Kristin Stannard controlled the ball about 25 yards out and unleashed a shot that found the upper left portion of the net. This gave Stanford a 3-0 lead with only 13 minutes off of the clock. Freshman Christen Press attempted a corner kick at the 24:53 mark in the game the ball sailed right to Allison Falk, who headed the ball in for her third goal of the season and fourth goal on the evening for Stanford. In scoring Falk shielded the Husky defender and got a clean header on the ball off of the kick. Stanford headed into the halftime break with a 4-0 lead, which was their biggest scoring effort in a half this season.

The second half let the Cardinal defense shine as they completed their second shutout in a row. Rachel Buehler continued her dominant play and gave the Husky forwards very little room to maneuver all night. Holland made two saves on the evening and recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

The Cardinal returns to the field on Sunday, Nov. 4 when they take on Washington at 12:00 pm at Laird Q, Cagan Field. The game will be Senior Day for the six Stanford seniors as they play their final regular season game at home.
