San Martin, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team shot a two-over par 362 in the second round of the CordeValle Collegiate today, and pulled into a tie for second place in the 11-team field. Freshman Sihwan Kim led the Cardinal to the second-lowest round in the field today, shooting a team-low 68 for the round at the CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif.
After shooting a seven-under yesterday, UCLA managed to hold its lead today, and stands five-under 715 (353-362). Stanford (363-362) is tied with USC in second place at five-over 725, just one stroke ahead of fourth place Lamar (365-361). Augusta State (365-363) rounds out the top-five at eight-over 728.
Kim's four-under 68 was the second lowest round of the day, and paced the ninth-ranked Cardinal. The freshman pulled into a tie for fourth place in the individual race with his impressive second round, and boasts a 36-hold total of 142 (74-68). Sophomore Jordan Cox (72-72) also had a solid day, shooting his second consecutive par round to cruise into the top-10 (T9). Senior Rob Grube (70-75) is tied for 17th at one-over 145 and junior Dodge Kemmer (75-73) is tied for 34th with a four-over 148. Sophomore Joseph Bramlett (72-77) rounds out the Cardinal and is tied for 41st place with a five-over 149. UCLA's James Lee (65-72) continues to lead the individual field at seven-under 137.
Junior Daniel Lim and freshman Graham Brockington are competing as individuals for Stanford. Lim (79-76) is in 59th place at 11-over 155 and Brockington (90-77) is in 70th at 23-over, 167. Freshman Steve Ziegler also played a round today, and shot a two-over 74.
The final 18 holes are set for tomorrow morning, with the first players scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. at the CordeValle Golf Club.
