LA QUINTA, Calif. - No. 12 Stanford held on to third place at the conclusion of the final round of The Prestige at PGA West today on the par-72 Greg Norman course, shooting its best round of the tournament, a two-over-par 290, to finish with a 15-over-par 879.

Sophomore Sihwan Kim carded three consistent rounds of 74-72-72 and notched the best spot on the leaderboard for the Cardinal, tying for eighth with a total score of two-over-par 218.

Three other Stanford golfers secured top-15 finishes, as junior Joseph Bramlett and sophomore Steve Ziegler, ended in a tie for 11th with a four-over 220. Ziegler recorded the Cardinal's best individual round of the tournament today with a two-under-par 70. Freshman David Chung, who was also steady with rounds of 74-74-73 followed just one stroke behind, with a total of 221, tying for 15th place.

Senior Dodge Kemmer, competing as an individual, finished in the middle of the pack with a 11-over 227 (t-30). Fellow senior Daniel Lim (t-63rd) and junior Jordan Cox (t-76th) both struggled to move up in the field, but showed improvement in the third round as they both managed their lowest rounds of the competition, a four-over par 76 and a one-over par 73, respectively.

TCU captured the team title, as it was the only squad to fire an under-par score of three-under 861. Tournament co-hosts UC Davis took second with a seven-over-par 871. TCU's Johan de Beer came from behind in today's round to tie yesterday's leader, UC Davis' Nate Pistacchio, for the individual title with a six-under-par 210.

Stanford will next compete in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla. beginning Oct. 26.

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Three Stanford golfers posted top-10 leaderboard scores today after two rounds of play at The Prestige at PGA West to help the No. 12 Cardinal to a 13-over-par 589, good enough for a stop at third place with one round left to play on the par-72 Greg Norman Course. Stanford is only six strokes behind first-place TCU, and three behind tournament co-hosts UC Davis.

Junior Joseph Bramlett, ranked 19th in the country, shot the team's best total over two rounds with 72-73 (+1, 145) and is tied for fourth place individually with Pepperdine's Andrew Putnam. Bramlett twice birdied holes No. 2 and 3, and three other holes throughout the day.

Sophomore Sihwan Kim and freshman David Chung also turned in solid performances for the Cardinal, with scores of two-over par 146 and four-over-par 148, respectively. Chung, like Bramlett, birdied seven times, while Kim found the hole one stroke early on six occasions.

Sophomore Steve Ziegler notched a top-25 spot, shooting a six-over-par 150 and finding himself in a one-way tie for 19th at the day's end. Senior Daniel Lim shot two 78s to complete the day at 12-over and in a tie for 54th. Senior Dodge Kemmer and junior Jordan Cox are competing as individuals. Kemmer carded a 74-78 to finish with an eight-over-par 152 and in a tie for 26th, while Cox struggled to find his groove, finishing in a tie for 77th. Kemmer also birdied six times, but suffered from two double bogeys in the front nine during his first turn to set him back a few strokes.

Only three players [Nate Pistacchio (UC Davis), Johan de Beer (TCU), and David Johnson (UCF)], escaped a windy first round and a calmer second go-round on the difficult course with an under-par total. Pistacchio, the current leader, fired a five-under 139.

With four golfers in the top 25, Stanford has set itself up nicely to go for the win, and will be in the driver's seat as one of the first groups to tee off in tomorrow's 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Fans can follow the action with live scoring at www.golfstat.com.
