Klahn, Wire Win Singles Matches, Move On To Tomorrow's Second Round of D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Freshman Bradley Klahn and junior No. 66 Richard Wire were both victorious today in their respective singles matches today in the first round of the Qualifying Singles bracket at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships at the University of Tulsa. Both move on to tomorrow's second round of singles play, and will also begin competing in the Qualifying Doubles bracket tomorrow as a pair.

Klahn took the court first for the Cardinal, dispatching his opponent Brad Cox of Kentucky in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Klahn will next face Boris Conkic, the eighth seed out of Tennessee, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday after he defeated Emanual Brighau of TCU in a second set tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6(3).

Later in the afternoon, Wire, the 19th seed, also took down his challenger, David Simson (Denver) in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-4. Tomorrow, Wire will match-up against Aleksandr Seleznev (Old Dominion), who defeated Miami's Carl Sundberg 6-3, 7-5, also at 10:30 a.m.

Wire and Klahn will open doubles play together tomorrow with a match against David Rosenfeld and David Simon of Miami at 2:30 p.m. CT. Should the Cardinal pair succeed, they will also play the second round of doubles tomorrow.

Fourth-ranked sophomore Alex Clayton is not scheduled to begin competing until Thursday in the main draw of the singles bracket.
