BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Patrick Christopher scored 21 points, Jerome Randle added 18 points, seven rebounds and eight assists and California rallied to beat Stanford 82-75 on Saturday afternoon.

Jorge Gutierrez had 10 points and eight rebounds and made a key shot with 1:37 remaining to help complete the comeback for the Golden Bears (19-6, 8-4 Pac-10) on a day Cal celebrated its 100th anniversary of men's basketball.

The Bears trailed by 22 in the first half and were down by 14 at halftime before opening the second half with a 16-3 run to get back into the game.

Landry Fields scored 16 points to pace five Stanford players in double figures. The Cardinal (15-8, 4-8) made just one basket over the final eight minutes and had only one 3-pointer in the second half after making nine in the first half.

NOTES

Today's victory was California's first in the all-time series since Jan. 3, 2007, when the Golden Bears squeaked out a 67-63 road win. Entering today, Stanford had won 10 of the last 12 meetings.

Stanford suffered a 72-68 overtime loss at Arizona State last year on Valentine's Day. The Cardinal's last win on Valentine's Day came in the form of a 69-58 win at California in 2004.

Stanford placed five players in double-figures for the second time this year, led by Landry Fields' 16 points. All five starters scored in double-figures in a 103-85 win over Cal State Northridge back on Nov. 18.

Stanford led 50-36 at intermission, reaching the half-century mark at halftime for the second straight game and fifth time this year. Stanford is now 15-4 when leading at the half.

Stanford shot a blistering 67.9 percent in the first half before cooling down to 33.3 percent over the final 20 minutes. From three-point territory, the Cardinal made 9-12 chances (75 percent) in the first half but was just 1-7 (14.3 percent) in the second.

Since a 1-7 shooting night against Washington State on Feb. 5, Landry Fields is 20-27 (74 percent) from the field and averaging 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds over the last three games combined.

Mitch Johnson dished out a season-high eight assists for the fourth time this year, increasing his career total to 484 as he now ranks fourth on the all-time list. His next target: Terry Taylor (490), who sits in third place.

Jeremy Green poured in 11 points and knocked down three triples, equaling season-best totals that he established last week against Washington.

Will Paul has registered as many rebounds (28) as three-point attempts (28). Nine of his 11 points on Saturday came from beyond the arc, as Paul is now shooting 13-28 (46.4 percent) from long range.

Stanford has outscored its opponents 891-724 in the first 20 minutes. However, the Cardinal has been on the short end in the second half, trailing 834-813.

Jeremy Green has made his last four free throws dating back to Jan. 10, when he missed two attempts at Washington State. He is 16-18 for the year, translating to 88.9 percent.
