Seattle, Wash. - The Stanford track and field teams had a strong showing at the Husky Classic with a number of top marks and personal bests. The Cardinal totaled ten NCAA automatic and provisional marks to further establish themselves as a national power.
The women were led by Lauren Centrowitz who ran a personal best and NCAA automatic standard of 4:37.07 in winning the mile. Already an automatic NCAA qualifier in the 3,000 meters and the distance medley relay, Centrowitz added a third event. The time was also the second fastest indoors in Stanford history.
In the same race, Alicia Follmar added a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:40.23. In a previous heat, freshman Laurynne Chetelat ran a time of 4:42.25 to also achieve the provisional standard. Both times were top-10 all-time for Stanford.
The distance runners were not done achieving NCAA marks, however, as Emilie Amaro added one if in the 3,000 meters. Amaro's time of 9:33.33 was also a provisional mark.
In the field events, Stanford was led by Michaela Wallerstedt in the shot put. Wallerstedt finished with a toss of 50-5 ¼, which was a personal best and NCAA provisional standard. The throw also moved her to fourth on the all-time Stanford list.
The final provisional mark for the women came from freshman Katerina Stefanidi in the pole vault. Her vault of 12-11 ¾ was a provisional mark and put her third on the Stanford all-time list.

On the men's side, the Cardinal were led by Elliott Heath in the 3,000 meters. Heath achieved the NCAA automatic standard with a time of 7:53.64. In the process he moved to fourth on the Stanford all-time list.
In the 400 meters, Stanford freshman Amaechi Morton tied the school record with a time of 46.88. The time was also a NCAA provisional standard.
The other provisional times were achieved by Dylan Ferris and Justin Marpole-Bird. Ferris ran a time of 1:50.10 in the 800 meters, while Marpole-Bird finished with at time of 4:02.43 in the mile.
The Cardinal will next compete back in Seattle at the MPSF Championships on February 27 and 28. Both the men's and women's teams should be in contention for the conference titles.
