LOS ANGELES (AP) - Anthony Goods scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half when Stanford rallied to beat Oregon State 62-54 in a first-round game of the Pac-10 tournament Wednesday night.

The ninth-seeded Cardinal (18-12) were making their first-ever appearance in the tournament's play-in game a year after losing to UCLA in the title game. They advanced to Thursday's quarterfinals against No. 13 Washington (24-7), the top seed.

The eighth-seeded Beavers (13-17) swept Stanford in the regular season for the first time since 1992-93 and twice got within one in the final 3:45. But they missed some big free throws and failed to hit a field goal in that stretch.

Lathen Wallace led the Beavers with 18 points.

NOTES

Stanford is now 11-10 all-time in Pac-10 Tournament play. The Cardinal was making its first-ever appearance in the play-in round.
Stanford avenged a pair of losses to Oregon State during the regular season. The Beavers won 77-62 at Maples Pavilion on Jan. 24 and 66-54 in Corvallis on Feb. 19.
Trailing 28-21 at halftime, Stanford outscored Oregon State 41-26 down the stretch. Stanford is now 2-7 when trailing at intermission this year.
After being held scoreless (0-3 FG, 0-2 3FG, 21 min.) in the last meeting in Corvallis, Anthony Goods led all scorers with 23 points on 6-17 shooting. He was 4-9 from three-point territory, 7-9 from the foul line and grabbed seven rebounds in 36 minutes.
Stanford held a 35-28 edge in the rebounding department, with four players grabbing at least five boards: Landry Fields (8), Lawrence Hill (7), Anthony Goods (7) and Kenny Brown (5).
Stanford forced Oregon State into 14 turnovers and limited the Beavers to just 39.2 percent shooting from the field. Not bad, considering Oregon State shot 62 percent overall in the first meeting and 53.8 percent in the second matchup.
With six assists tonight, Mitch Johnson is now tied for second all-time in assists with Keith Ramee (513). His next handout puts him all alone in second place, with only Brevin Knight (780) dishing out more assists in a Cardinal uniform.
Will Paul has totaled one more rebound (30) than three-point attempts (29).
