After holding the lead for most of the third and final round of the 2009 U.S. Collegiate Championship, the Stanford men's golf team was denied the tournament title by Clemson, who slipped past the Cardinal in the final nine holes to steal the victory.

The Tigers were the only squad to fire a collective under-par round today, and shot a four-under par 284 to best Stanford, who shot an 11-over-par 299 to finish with 878 strokes overall (+14) and in second place.

Freshman David Chung finished third individually after posting the team's best round of the day, a one-over-par 73. Chung collectively shot a two-under-par 214 and was only two strokes back of co-champions Bud Cauley (Alabama) and Erik Flores (UCLA), marking his second top-10 finish of the season.

Sophomore Steve Ziegler followed behind Chung in a tie for fourth. After entering the day at three-under-par Ziegler went four-over today to finish with par for the course over the three rounds with 216 strokes. Ziegler now has four top-10 finishes, including two top-five.

Senior Dodge Kemmer earned his fourth top-25 finish of the season after shooting a seven-over-par 223 to end up in a tie for 25th, while sophomore Sihwan Kim finished in a tie for 44th (+12, 228), and senior Daniel Lim checked in at 72nd (+19, 230).
