AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Dodge Kemmer shot his second-straight round of 70 to lead the fifth-ranked Stanford men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Southwest Regional at the University of Texas Golf Club. With the top-five finish, the Cardinal advance to the NCAA Championships at the Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio held from May 27-30.
Stanford completed action with a three-day, 54-hole total of 35-over-par 887. Eighth-ranked Florida took first in the regional tournament with a 22-over-par 877, followed by No. 19 Texas Tech at 24 over par and No. 25 Texas at 25 over par. No. 48 Michigan also advanced to Toledo, scoring a 888 to take fifth place.
Kemmer earned his best finish of the year, a tie for fourth place, shooting a 76-70-70--216 on the par-71 course. The Wichita, Kans. native drained three birdies in the final round on the fourth, ninth, and 14th holes. Sophomore Sihwan Kim posted his best round of the tournament in the final round, a one-over-par 72, to finish in a tie for 12th. Kim shot a 75-74-72--221.
Sophomore Steve Ziegler completed play in a tie for 37th with a 13-over-par 226, while David Chung bounced back to shoot a two-over-par 73, his best round of the tournament, to end with a 20-over-par 233. Senior Daniel Lim finished tied with Chung for 56th place.
The Longhorns' Lance Lopez took the individual crown and was the only player to post an under par score with a four-under-par 209. Hugues Joannes of Lamar, who tied for fourth with Kemmer will also be going on to the NCAA Championships as he earned the highest individual finish for a player from a non-advancing team.
This will be the third consecutive trip for the Cardinal to the NCAA Championships. Stanford took the team title in 2007 and finished in second place just one stroke behind 2008 champion UCLA.

AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Dodge Kemmer led the way for the fifth-ranked Cardinal today, carding a round of 70 as the Stanford men's golf team turned in a 15-over-par second round at the NCAA Southwest Regional on the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
The Cardinal, now in fifth place with a 25-over-par 593, trails new leader Texas by 17 strokes and is eight behind fourth-place UNLV on the par-71, 7,412-yard course. Stanford must remain in fifth, or improve their position to advance to the 2009 NCAA Championships.
Kemmer holed four birdies for a one-under-par outing, boosting him into a tie for 11th with a cumulative four-over-par 146. Sophomore Steve Ziegler, yesterday's top Stanford performer, played himself into a tie for 18th and is currently one stroke behind Kemmer.
Freshman Sihwan Kim improved upon his first round score by one stroke and is now in a tie for 28th with 149 total for two rounds. Senior Daniel Lim and freshman David Chung find themselves in the bottom half of the individual leaderboard, as Lim is plus-10 and in a tie for 42nd and Chung is tied for 68th with a 18-over-par 160.
The forecast for tomorrow's third and final round calls for afternoon thunderstorms and a high of 89 degrees. The Cardinal will be part of the first group to tee off from the first hole, beginning with David Chung at 8:50 a.m., and will play with Lamar and UNLV. Fans can follow all the action at Golfstat.com

AUSTIN, Texas - The fourth-ranked Stanford men's golf team shot a 10-over-par 294 in the first round of the NCAA Southwest Regional at the University of Texas Golf Club to settle into fourth place with two rounds left to play.
Sophomore Steve Ziegler worked the par-71, 7,412-yard course for a one-under-par 70 and is just two strokes out of first place. The Broomfield, Colo. native is currently in a three-way tie for third place after draining five birdies on the day.
Senior Daniel Lim earned the next best position for the Cardinal, knocking in a one-over-par 72 to put himself in a tie for 15th. Lim struggled with the seventh hole, but made up for his double-bogey with two consecutive circles on holes eight and nine.
Sophomore Sihwan Kim is also currently in the top-25 on the individual leaderboard, turning in a four-over-par 75 (t-24th) while senior Dodge Kemmer is in tie for 31st at five-over. Freshmen David Chung birdied his first hole, but wrestled with the rest of the course to finish the round at 11-over-par.
No. 19 Texas Tech currently holds the lead, as the Red Raiders used four individual rounds of even-par or better to shoot a 2-under-par 282 en route to a nine-stroke advantage over second-place No. 25 Texas. Eighth-ranked Florida is in third just one stroke ahead of Stanford. Lamar's Hugues Joannes is tied for the individual lead with Texas' Lance Lopez at three-under-par.
The Cardinal will need to maintain or improve upon its fourth-place position over the next two rounds in order to qualify for its third-straight trip to the NCAA Championships. Only the top-five teams and the top individual from a non-advancing team will move on to the finals, held this year at the Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio from May 27-30.
