Clayton Falls In NCAA Singles Quarterfinals

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Sophomore No. 21 Alex Clayton saw his 2009 season come to a close today after falling to Mississippi's No. 30 Devin Britton in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championship at Texas A&M University.

Clayton took the first set, 4-6, but lost a pivotal tiebreaker in the second 7-6(3). The third set was hotly contested, but Britton was able to pull out a 6-4 set victory to win the match.

Clayton made yet another impressive run in the NCAA Singles Championship, after advancing to the semifinals last year and upsetting two top-15 opponents this year.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native ends the season with a 32-11 overall record (14-5 dual, 13-12 versus nationally-ranked opponents).
