Final Stats

Corvallis, Ore. - Stanford men's soccer picked up its 10th victory of the season with a crucial Pac-10 road victory over Oregon State on Friday night in the Pacific Northwest. Stanford scored two late goals to earn a 3-2 win in a back and forth contest to improve to 10-4-1 (4-3-1 Pac-10).

The win moves Stanford into sole possession of second place in the Pac-10 and gives the program double digit wins for the first time since 2002, the year the Cardinal made it all the way to the NCAA title game.

Stanford took a first half lead in the 23rd minute on the fourth goal of the season from Evan Morgan. Adam Jahn found Morgan on a cross from the left side as Morgan's shot got by the diving attempt of Beaver keeper, Steve Spangler.

The Cardinal had seven first half shots and four corners, but managed just the one goal lead at the half. John Moore mad three first half saves to preserve the shutout through the first 45 minutes.

The lack of scoring would not hold up in the second half, however. Oregon State scored the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute after a tough foul in the box.

The game looked as if it could be headed to overtime, before a flurry of scoring in the final ten minutes.

Cameron Lamming scored the game-winner in the 80th minute on an assist from Morgan. The goal was the second game-winner of the season for Lamming, who also scored a golden goal to beat San Francisco. Morgan also picked up his team-leading fourth assist of the season.

Four minutes later, the Cardinal added to their lead when freshman Adam Jahn found the back of the net. Jahn picked up his third goal of the season on an assist from Garrett Gunther, his second of the year.

Oregon State made things interesting in the final minute when Danny Mwanga scored with just 30 seconds remaining to get the Beavers back within one. However, the Cardinal hung on for a solid road victory.

Stanford outshot the Beavers 14-8 as Moore made four saves to pick up his 10th win in goal this season.

The Cardinal will complete their road schedule on Sunday when they travel to Seattle to take on Washington. The game will kick at 1:00 pm, as Stanford will look to clinch a winning Pac-10 record.
