Davis, Calif. - The Stanford throwers took center stage at the Woody Wilson Invitational hosted by UC Davis on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinal got some excellent results including a meet victory in the women's hammer from Jaynie Goodbody.
Goodbody finished with a toss of 182-11, which was just off her season best, but was good enough to take the meet title. Molly Kinsella also competed and placed eighth with a throw of 145-10.
Kinsella fared better in the discus where she placed third. Her toss of 142-0, which was a season best.
Stanford had two of the top five in the hammer throw led by Carter Wells. Wells placed third with a throw of 193-6, which was just off his season best. Cody Cox also competed and placed fifth with a mark of 169-1, which was a season best.
Wells also competed in the discus where he placed second with a throw of 156-0.
While most of the action at the Mt. SAC Relays took place on earlier in the weekend, Katerina Stefanidi competed in the top section of the women's pole vault on Saturday. Stefanidi finished third with a vault of 12-11 ½. She was also on hand to see her coach, Toby Stevenson elected into the Mt. SAC Relays Hall of Fame.
