Box Score

CORVALLIS, Ore.-- Brian Busick (4-1) pitched six innings and Jake Stewart drove in four as Stanford (18-13, 7-5 Pac-10) won its fifth straight, sweeping its series at No. 14-ranked Oregon State (20-11, 3-6 Pac-10) with a 10-7 win on Sunday.

Jonathan Kaskow added three hits for his fourth-straight multi-hit game as Stanford scored nine runs in the second and third innings and 29 runs for the weekend.

Busick had his longest career start, giving up two runs on seven hits to pick up his second win of the week following two scoreless innings at Santa Clara on Tuesday.

Busick left with a 9-2 lead before the bullpen yielded five runs, including two each in the eighth and ninth innings.

Busick, who retired seven in a row after OSU took a 1-0 lead in the first, tied his six relief innings against UC Santa Barbara in early March, for his longest career outing.

Stanford unloaded with six runs in the third to lead 9-1, paced by a three-run homer by Stewart (2) and RBI singles by Zach Jones and Jake Schlander. The Cardinal went up 3-1 in the second, after Eric Smith hit a bases loaded, two-run single followed by an RBI groundout by Stewart.

Sam Gaviglio (1-1) was pulled after Stewart's homer in the third, giving up nine runs on eight hits over 2.2 innings for the loss.

Stanford returns home on Tuesday to begin a four-game home stand with Santa Clara at 5:30 p.m. Bay Area rival, California, comes to Klein Field at Sunken Diamond next weekend for a three-game series.

NOTES: Stanford gave up its first first inning run in nine games on Sunday. The Cardinal had given 32 first inning runs prior to that near two-week scoreless streak... Stanford reached double digits in hits in all four games this week, all wins.
