Stanford's two longest rushing plays of the season were by quarterbacks, Andrew Luck (52 yards for a TD in thesecond quarter) and Alex Loukas (48 yards, Sacramento State). Following the game Luck's career rushing averageis 6.7 yards per rush (74-494) and 32.9 yards per game. The 69 yards tonight was a career-best, besting the 63last week at UCLA. It was the second time this season Andrew Luck has thrown for four touchdowns, setting and tying a career-best. He is the first Cardinal quarterback to have two four TD games in a season since Randy Fasani in 2001. Luckjoins Fasani (2001), John Elway (1980, 1982) and Jim Plunkett (1969) as the only four Cardinal quarterbacks tothrow for at least four TDs twice in a season. It is the fastest Stanford team to 100 points since Calvin Coolidge assumed the presidency in the latter half of1923. The 155 points over the first three games is the most since the then-Indians scored 164 over the first threegames of the 1923 season, against Mare Island (82-0), Nevada (27-0) and Santa Clara (55-6). In most recenttimes, Stanford scored 126 points over the first three games of 1969. In Chris Owusu's first game of the season (missing the first two due to injury), the Cardinal wide receiver caughtthe first two TD passes from Andrew Luck, marking the first time in Owusu's career that he had caught two TDpasses in a game. Two-sport star Tyler Gaffney scored two rushing touchdowns for the first time in his young career. 13 different players (with Chris Owusu, Usua Amanam and Andrew Stutz tonight) have scored touchdowns thisseason. Twelve players had TDs last year. Nate Whitaker missed his first PAT as a Stanford kicker following the touchdown in the second (11:12). He hadmade his first 66-straight over the last two seasons. He also missed one in the fourth quarter. Two-way player Owen Marecic was credited with first career sack, early in the first quarter. Stanford is 13-2 in its last 15 home games dating back to the last game in 2007. The 3-0 start is the first undefeated start after three games since 2001, fourth 1972 (1972, 1986, 2001, 2010). It is the fifth time under Jim Harbaugh, and second this season, the Cardinal have gone over 50. It is also his20th career victory at Stanford (20-20-0). The 68 points is tied for the fourth-most points in Stanford history and most since 68 against San Jose State in1968. It was the first time over 60 points since 2002. The start time was 8:25 p.m the latest kickoff time in Stanford history.
