Toole Leads Field in Long Beach, Coed Team 11th in Maryland

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. / Long Beach, Calif.-- Stanford freshman Oliver Toole is in first place at the two-day men's Pacific Coast Conference Singlehanded Championships while the coed team is in 11th place after the first of two days of racing at the St. Mary's College Intersectional with 108 points.

Toole, in his first collegiate race won twice in seven races and finished second another three times for 25 points. Classmate Mateo Vargas is fifth with 45 points, finishing in the top-10 in all eight races, followed by fellow freshman Kevin Laube, who has 47 points, including one win.

The A Division with Nick Dugdale as skipper and freshman Anna McConnell as crew had the eighth-best divisional score with 43 points over five races, including a second and sixth place showing.  The B Division team of Ben Pedrick and Katie Riklin have tallied 65 points over six races and 18 teams.

The Cardinal Sailing team continues this weekend with the two-day Pacific Coast Conference Men's Singlehanded Championships in Long Beach Sunday and another day of racing at St. Mary's (MD).
