Corvallis, Ore. - Stanford's Dominique Yahyavi tapped in a double-overtime golden goal to secure a crucial 1-0 Pac-10 road victory over Oregon State. The Cardinal and Beavers played 106 minutes of scoreless soccer before the Cardinal broke through with the game winner.

"It was a great effort on the road today," said head coach Bret Simon. "Sunday games are particularly challenging. Our defensive effort was exceptional and Galen Perkins did an excellent job starting the first two games of his college career."

The two teams battled for 90 minutes of regulation and another 10 minute overtime period, before the Cardinal scored in the second a final overtime. The game was a defensive showdown with each side taking just five shots. The Cardinal backline held steady and Perkins made four saves in regulation and two more in the first overtime.

In the second overtime, Stanford began to assume some control, outshooting the Beavers 3-0. Almost seven minutes into the final overtime, Stanford finally got the goal that would result in its first Pac-10 victory.

Adam Jahn created the chance, firing a shot on goal that was deflected by Oregon State goalkeeper Steve Spangler. The rebound trickled in front of the goal and Yahyavi was there to tap it in for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Jahn was credited with the assist, while Yahyavi had his second game-winner in a 1-0 game of the season.

The win gives the Cardinal an overall record of 5-6-0, including 1-2-0 in the Pac-10. Stanford will now return home for two more key Pac-10 games next weekend when UCLA and San Diego State come to Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Bruins will be in town Friday night at 7:30 pm, followed by an afternoon tilt with the Aztecs, Sunday at 2:30 pm. Both games will come directly following a women's game and one ticket will be good for admission to both games of the double-header.
