Seattle, Wash. - Stanford began the road portion of the Pac-10 season with a 2-0 loss to Washington. The Cardinal entered halftime scoreless, but could not hang on, falling to 0-2 in the conference season.
Stanford was outshot 11-1 in the first half, but maintained a scoreless draw into halftime. The backline of Ryan Thomas, Tommy Ryan, Bobby Warshaw and Cameron Lamming held a scoreless tie, while Galen Perkins made a pair of saves in his Stanford debut.
Perkins was starting for the injured Jason Dodson. The redshirt freshman was seeing his first action of his Stanford career. He made two first half saves and three for the game.
The Huskies came out with a pair of quick goals in the second half to take control of the game. Matt Van Houten scored in both the 46th and 48th minute for Washington to give the Huskies a comfortable lead.
Stanford continued to battle for the full 90 minutes, tripling its shots in the second half, but unable to find the back of the net. Thomas, Lamming and Adoni Levine all sent shots on goal, but each were stopped by Washington keeper Richey Spencer.
Stanford is now 4-6-0 on the season and has lost two in a row after winning four straight games. The Cardinal will look to get it going against Oregon State in Corvallis on Sunday at 1pm.
