LONG BEACH, Calif.-- Stanford's freshman class rocked Belmont Shores as Maya DiRado and Andie Taylor finished 1-2 in the 400-yard individual medley and Felicia Lee won the 100 fly on the second day of the Long Beach Arena Invite.
Betsy Webb was a part of her fourth meet record, winning the 100 back and Kate Dwelley won the 200 free as the Cardinal have now won seven of eight individual events.
DiRado and Taylor both posted A qualifying times in the 400 individual medley, as DiRado was just four tenths slower than NCAA Champion Julia Smit's meet record last year (4:03.31). Taylor also had a A standard, finishing second with a time of 4:06.12.
Lee and Sam Woodward posted B standards in the 100 fly, with Lee leading the pack at 52.84 and the junior coming in second at 53.22. Jessie Hammes also reached the finals, finishing fifth. Hammes also was fourth in the 100 back with a mark of 54.62.
Webb bested her preliminary time of 52.95 with a time of 52.76 in the night cap of the 100-yard backstroke. She set a meet record in the 50 free and was a part of both meet record relay teams on Thursday.
Dwelley won the 200 free (1:45.34) ahead of teammate Andi Murez (1:45.57), both with B standard times.
Taylor and Lee, along with Andi Murez and Dwelley were a part of the winning 800 free relay team with a time of 7:05.98. That was also a meet record, three seconds faster than last year's Stanford team (7:08.70).
Liz Smith was third in the 100 breast (1:00.53), in a race that saw the seven year old meet record (1:00.76) get topped by the top three competitors and won by ASU's Rebecca Ejdervik's time of 1:00.04. Alissa Finn (seventh) and Kerry Kraemer (eighth) also made the finals.
The Arena Invite closes out its three-day run on Saturday at Belmont Plaza. Stanford divers continue competition in Tucson at the Wildcat Invite through Sunday.
