Sailors in Eighth at Rose Bowl Regatta After Day One

LONG BEACH, Calif.-- Stanford is in eighth place of 30 teams after the first of two days of sailing at the Rose Bowl Regatta.

After four races on each side, the Cardinal have tallied 82 points with Kevin Laube's A division two-man team finishing in the top-10 three times and Sally Mace's two-man B division team finishing fifth twice.

Both are in the top third of their respective divisions with Laube and Kelly Ortel at seventh in the top division with 38 points. Mace and Katie Ricklin are ninth.

The Rose Bowl Regatta, which opens up the New Years, is the only race for the Cardinal until February 12, when the spring season begins.
