SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-- Stanford Sailing swept through the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference for the second-straight year, winning the women's championship on Saturday for the seventh straight time.
Stanford's also sent teams across the country, finishing sixth at the Admiral's Cup and eighth at the Thompson Cup.
The weekend though, belonged to the women, who have not lost a spring conference championship since 2005. The women combineed for 47 points with Eliza Richartz, Sally Mace and Molly McKinney as skippers.
Stanford's teams are on the up tick as the women came into the week ranked No. 8 and the coeds were No. 10, the first time in recent memory both have reached the top-10. Stanford has swept the PCCSC coed, team and women's championships each of the last two years.
Over the 12-race on the Central Coast, and over the two days, Mace, Katie Ricklin and Molly McKinney combined for just 19 points in the B Division, winning or placing second in all but one race.
On the East Coast, Stanford finished sixth of 17 teams at the Admiral's Cup in upper state New York with a combined 238 points. Kevin Laube and Kelly Ortel in the B Division with 71 points and Nick Dugdale in the laser in the C Division were both sixth in their respective divisions.
At the Thompson Cup, Stanford was eighth of 18 teams in Connecticut at the Thompson Cup, scoring a combined 225 points. Ben Pedrick skippered the Cardinal to a sixth place showing in the B Division with 97 points over the 13 races, placing in the top half of the standings nine times in 13 tries with three wins.
Stanford next competes at the National Semifinals in Long Beach next April 30 and May 1.
