"I'm really proud of the way the team faced the adversity today after losing the doubles point, we've been very dominant in doubles for the last several weeks if not even longer and I'm just really proud of the way the guys came out in singles and refocused and brought the energy and left it on the court. Ohio State is a great team and I give them all the credit in the world, they've been here many times and it was just a great college tennis match again and I'm just really proud we pulled through and have the opportunity to move on and play tomorrow."
"I really thought it was a matter of just going out and doing the things we've been working on all year and just leaving it out on the court and that's just the way it is. That's all you can do, and certainly I think it was a little tough because that doubles point was so tight and certainly I think you learn about people after you're down a little bit and what I learned about my team was again, that they have a lot of character and they bounce back real well. We're looking forward to tomorrow, we've just got to get ourselves ready, we've got a tough USC team to face and they've been here a few times so we're looking forward to a challenge."
Ohio State Head Coach Ty Tucker
"It was a tough match. We knew we'd have our hands full. We won the doubles point, and hats go off to Virginia. They had a great crowd, provided a great atmosphere for the players. Actually I think the crowd got them the doubles point back quickly. Another thing is that if you beat us at 1, 2 and 4 [singles] we really can't come back. Those are three spots, 1, 2 and 4, where we've won 115 matches and probably lost 10 all season. They beat us at 1, 2 and 4 and pretty convincingly. I thought it was due to the fact that at 1 and 2 singles they were able to get 30-40 free points on their first serves and they did a great job of returning our first serves and our first serve percentage wasn't high and that was the difference in the match."
"Hats go off to Virginia. They were down a doubles point in a neutral place, and the coaching staff there does a great job and their student-athletes fought their butts off. You've got to give them the credit, but on our end we gotta take care of our service game at 1 and 2 singles. It was a battle of four guys in the top 10 of the rankings and Virginia was able to take our two spots and put two points on the board in an hour and 15 minutes. Everywhere else it seemed to be a war."
