MEN'S QUOTES

Ryan Thacher, STANFORD
"I think that Bradley and I both played pretty solid return games all the way through today. We were having trouble putting first serves in the court and struggling with the breeze to really make some volleys that we normally would make a little easier. Things were pretty interesting out there even though we got that lead in the second set. We wanted to stay focused because we felt like anything could still happen."

Bradley Klahn, STANFORD
"We started out well and went up 2-0 with a quick break and were playing pretty well. I thought our energy was a little low in the beginning, I didn't feel too tired, we were both just a little sluggish. We got down a break, 3-2, and then they were serving 5-4, 40-love and Ryan stepped up a ripped a backhand return right down the line. After that we just hung in there and they gave us a few missed volleys and double faults. It's funny how doubles works, the momentum changes are so sudden. It can change at any moment. I thought that we picked it up in the second set and were able to hold our serves easier. We made a few too many errors in the beginning, but then we cleaned it up as the match went on."

Vahid Mirzadeh, FLORIDA STATE
"It was a hard-earned win. That is a team that's beat us a few times in the past and they're No. 2 in the nation. You have to work hard just to get a win like that and we're really happy."

Connor Smith, FLORIDA STATE
"We lost a tight one to them in a dual this year, we lost to them in a tiebreaker, 9-8. We knew we had to come out and play well and I think we did. They're the defending champs, so we just played loose, and it went our way."

WOMEN'S QUOTES
Mari Andersson, CALIFORNIA
"We started off well, but they came back a little. In doubles, you have to really stay on top of your game. All of the teams are really good here, so you really have to play your best to win the games. I think when it got closer in the first set we were able to stick to our gameplan. Things have been going well, we just need to keep it going."

Jana Juricova, CALIFORNIA
"I think we had to win the match at the net, so we tried to do that. We staggered really well. It's going to get really tough from now on. Everyone left is really good so it is going to be really tough competition. I think we are ready though."

Mallory Burdette, STANFORD
"I feel like it was a little bit tough there at first, and we had to figure out what a successful gameplan would be against these guys. I'm pretty happy with the way we played, especially in the end. We kind of struggled but came through really well."

Hilary Barte, STANFORD
"We're happy to get through. We worked well in the first set, then got back to 5-5, got our focus back and got it done."

Alex Cercone, FLORIDA
"We played well today. We had to play well and we were hoping to get off the court rather quickly just because Allie had a tough match today, so we wanted to be a little punctual more so than yesterday because we were out on the doubles court for a really long time and we weren't able to close out. But today we went after it a little more."

Allie Will, FLORIDA
"I thought we prepared as much as we could. Alex really carried the team today, I didn't really have to do too much so it was awesome."
