Women Eighth in Rhode Island, Coeds Ninth on the Bay

PROVIDENCE, RI / SAN FRANCISCO – The Stanford women finished in eighth place at the Dellenbaugh Intersectional out of Rhode Island, while across the country in the San Francisco Bay, the coed team finished ninth of 32 teams at the St. Francis Intersectional.

At the two-day Southern New England team race, Stanford was fourth of 16 teams with a 10-5 record. Harvard led the field with a 14-1 record.

Over the final six races on day two in New England, Sally Mace skippered the Cardinal to top-10 finishes in five of six races, winning the 12th race. The Cardinal finished with 238 points, moving up one spot after day one.

In fact, Mace's two-woman team was in the top-10 in all but five of the 14 races and would have been higher than the 103 points, if they had finished the 13th race. A top-10 finish in that race likely would have put them in the top-five, instead Mace along with the crew of Hannah Burroughs and Katie Ricklin were sixth.

On the Bay, Ben Pedrick skippered the B Division to the sixth-best divisional score, tallying 69 points. The two-person boat was four points out of fifth. Stanford finished with 155 points.
