FEDERAL WAY, Wash.-- Maya DiRado defended her title in the 200 back and the Cardinal won the night's final event, the 400 free relay, but California came away with the Pac-12 Championship, edging the two-time defending conference champions. Stanford also had four swimmers in the A Finals of the 100 free and five in the top-10 of the 1650 free, but fell to the cross bay rivals 1389.5-1341.5.

Stanford won the final event, the 400 free relay with a time of 3:12.34, as Cal was third, a 10-point advantage in the final standings and the team's third title of the week.

Cal took a 58-point lead into the final event-- the 400 free relay, where Stanford had a three second advantage over the Bears. Stanford led following the first four events, prior to Cal overtaking it in the 200 fly.

Cal took a five point lead following the 200 fly, the last individual swimming event, leading to the platform where Stanford had two divers in the top-16 and the Bears had three, including two in the finals. Diver Stephanie Phipps, a finalist in the 1- and 3-meter, produced 7.5's throughout four of her five prelim dives, but her degree of difficulty topped out at 2.1 leading to just a score of 180.20 and a 14th place finish.

After inching closer to begin the night, the Cardinal used four swimmers in the A Finals of the 100 free to take the lead away from Cal after inching closer with seven top-10 finishes over two events to start the evening, the 200 back and 1650 free. Betsy Webb was the top finisher in the sprint, racing 48.38 to finish third and lead Cal by 32 points with four events to go. Stanford then maintained its lead following the 200 breast.

Stanford led by 21points after Jamie Bruce and Kerry Kraemer swam in the B Finals of the 200 breast and Katie Olsen won the C Finals. It was the final time Stanford would lead, as the Bears passed them in the back-and-forth championship following the 200 fly.

DiRado posted a time of 1:52.77 to defend her title in the 200 back, winning for the second time, as Felicia Lee also made the finals, finishing seventh at 1:56.52. The four finishers in the top-15 moved Stanford to within eight points of Cal after the night's second event. DiRado came from behind to win, trailing Arizona's Sara Denninghoff until the final 50 yards.

Stanford opened up the night by moving to within 22 points with five swimmers in the top-10 of the 1650 free led by Mackenzie Stein's fourth place showing of 16:27.09. The Cardinal scored 112 points in just the longest event of the meet.

Though the scores won't count until next week's men's championships, Stanford diving scored a best of 147 points over the three men's diving events paced by three top-eight finishes in the platform on Saturday. Arizona was second with 94 points, followed by Utah with 76. Noah Garcia was the top finisher, in fifth with 297.55 points followed by Taylor Sishc (291.00) and Dhruv Tyagi (259.75).
