Synchro Finishes Fourth at U.S. Collegiate Nationals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team placed fourth at the 2012 U.S. Collegiate Championships, Saturday, at the Stephen O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla.

Stanford tallied a total of 66.0 team points in the overall standings. The Ohio State University captured the title with 93.0 points. The Buckeyes were followed by The University of Incarnate Word (88.0 points) and Lindenwood University (68.5 points). Canisius College rounded out the top-5 with 61.0 points.

The final day of the event began with the trio finals. Stanford's Alex Bollaidlaw, Liane Lovitt and Koko Urata placed fourth with an 86.517. The Cardinal trio of Anna Boyle, Madison Crocker and Leigh Haldeman took sixth with an 84.433.

Winning the trio title was Ohio State's Alexandra Beckett, Yulyia Maryanko and Paige Ramsey with a score of 87.417. They were followed by the University of Incarnate Word (87.183) and a second trio from OSU (86.650).

In the duet finals, Crocker and junior Jessica Guenther captured fourth with an 86.200. Coming in fifth was Stanford's Bollaidlaw and Urata with an 85.967. The first-place duet team was Sakie Fujise and Inga Gillyer of Incarnate Word with an 88.533. Ohio State took second with an 87.933 and Lindenwood University snagged third place with an 86.300.

In the solo finals, Crocker took sixth for the Cardinal with an 84.783. Maryanko of Ohio State was the champion with a score of 89.133. Fujise was second with an 88.750, while Gillyer took third with an 87.650.

In the team final, Incarnate Word won the title with an 89.667, edging Ohio State (89.650).

Maryanko of Ohio State was the individual high point winner, totaling 97 individuals points.

Up next for the Cardinal are the U.S. Nationals, being held in Mesa, Ariz., Apr. 12-14.
