Stanford Wins Pair of Conference Sailing Titles

Nov. 12, 2012

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford wrapped up the fall season with a pair of convincing first-place finishes at the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Championships this past weekend in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The Cardinal teamed to post 77 points, far beyond the reach of second-place Long Beach (124) to top the 21-team field in the coed competition. Stanford notched 49 points in the A-Division and 28 in the B-Division.

Oliver Toole and Haley Kirk (A-Division), Kevin Laube and Kelly Ortel (B-Division) and Kieran Chung-Wolf (C-Division) each took part in the coed competition.

Stanford finished first with 14 points to win the dinghy title. Hawaii (28) was second and Long Beach (38) was third among the rest of the 20 teams behind the Cardinal.

In the Sailing World College Rankings released last week, the Cardinal coed squad ranked seventh. On the women's side of the rankings, Stanford checked in at 15th.
