STANFORD, Calif. - Maddy Schaefer was responsible for three wins as No. 5 Stanford downed No. 23 Wisconsin, 159-130, for a women's swimming and diving dual meet victory Friday at the Avery Aquatic Center.
Schaefer posted individual wins in the 50 and 200 free while teaming to capture gold in the 400 medley relay.
The Cardinal improved to 2-0 on the season in dual meets and gets back into the pool at noon (PT) Saturday against Texas to conclude the weekend. Live results for the home meet will be available at GoStanford.com.
The 400 medley relay squad of Schaefer, Katie Olsen, Haley Sims and Andi Murez went 3:47.11 to pick up the opening win on the day.
Wisconsin responded with a win in the 1,000 free as Jenny Holtzen touched first in 10:01.99. Allison Brown was second in 10:05.65.
The tides shifted when Schaefer (1:48.57) and Maya DiRado (1:48.98) claimed the top two spots in the 200 free.
Annemarie Thayer (55.09), Megan Fischer-Colbrie (56.12), and Murez (56.16) went 1-2-3 in the 100 back with Sarah Haase (1:03.17) and KC Moss (1:03.52) taking first and second in the 100 breast.
Stanford's winning streak continued in the 200 fly behind the efforts of Andie Taylor (2:02.30) and her first-place showing. Kaia Simmons was second in 2:02.83 with Kristie Chen finishing in 2:03.10.
Schaefer's second individual win came in the form of a 22.81 in the 50 free.
In 3-meter diving action, Stephanie Phipps (302.33) led a trio of Cardinal divers on top of the leaderboard. Sloane Brazina (270.23) and Alexandra Clay (252.45) were second and third, respectively.
Brazina (275.55) outscored the field in the 1-meter event, posting slightly more than one point over Lillian Hinrichs (274.13).
Wisconsin's Ruby Martin (51.36) and Ivy Martin (51.40) led the pack in the 100 free as Julia Ama (51.49) took third.
Hannah Ross (1:59.87) won the 200 back for the Badgers, touching in front of Fischer-Colbrie (1:59.87).
Olsen (2:15.29) and Moss (2:16.56) paced the field in the 200 breast with Taylor (4:55.53) holding off Thayer (4:54.54) for the win in the 500 free.
Jaynie Pulte (57.26) was second in the 100 fly as Julia Ama (57.71) earned silver for the Cardinal.
DiRado's 4:15.96 was the top time in the 400 individual medley.
Murez, Ama, Fischer-Colbrie and Sims teamed to go 1:35.49 in the 200 free relay to end the meet.
