COLUMBUS, Ohio - Maya DiRado notched an NCAA A-cut in the 200 back and the Stanford women's swimming team won a pair of races to wrap up the Ohio State Invitational Sunday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Cardinal held a 25-point lead heading into the final day of competition and finished second overall among the nine-team field.
Florida won the invite with 837 points as Stanford (815) was second. Ohio State (589) was third and North Carolina (563) was fourth in front of Notre Dame (440) and Wisconsin (387).
"Today was another day of great racing from our team," Stanford head coach Greg Meehan said. "At the end of the meet, we wanted to know how we can get better over the next 12 weeks. Our staff feels good about the path in front of us."
Stanford now takes a break from competition and returns to the pool on Jan. 5 when it plays host to Pacific at Avery Aquatic Center.
Andie Taylor posted an NCAA B-cut 16:18.23 in the 1,650 free for fourth and was joined in the top 10 by ninth-place Allison Brown (16:35.19).
DiRado went 1:52.52 in the 200 back for a second-place finish and an NCAA A-cut, one of three automatic qualifying performances in the event.
Maddy Schaefer won the 100 free in 48.36, one spot ahead of teammate Andi Murez (48.72).
Katie Olsen's 2:09.91 in the 200 breast was good for second and Sarah Haase (2:12.42) added fourth-place points in the race for the Cardinal.
Kirstie Chen (1:59.97) was eighth overall in the 200 fly.
Stanford struck gold in the 400 free relay with a meet-record 3:15.69 behind the efforts of Schaefer, DiRado, Julia Anderson and Murez.
